You have been called a non-traditional marketing strategist - what is that?

A brand is no longer what the company or business tells consumers, its what consumers tell each other. Traditional marketing tactics (print, broadcast, direct mail, etc) will always have their place but you must now have the ability to connect with the consumer on an entirely different level and through a variety of mediums. Marketing will continue to change, probably more so in the next 5 years than in the last 50. That\’s what I focus on. What are the changes and trends that are taking place now, and how can brands leverage them  to grow and  drivbe their business.

What is one of the bigger mistakes brands make when it comes to content marketing?

One big mistake brands can make with content marketing is not understanding that its about the reader, not the brand.

If consumers in your niche aren\’t engaging with YOUR content – they\’re probably engaging with someones else\’s. Learn from them..

If content marketing is about the reader and not the brand what is your approach?

My approach has been to craft content with meaning & value, focusing on the needs of the audience.

How has content marketing leveled the playing field for marketers and brands?

A big advertising budget is what used to separate many companies. Having a story to tell is what really separates them now.

How can a brand stand out with the volume of content being published daily?

To stand out Brands must deliver content that is relevant, useful, solves problems & answers questions for their target market.

How should brands measure success with content marketing?

Don’t measure content marketing success by the size of your audience measureit acording to the actual engagement around your content.

How can a brand drive interest in the content they're publishing?

In the same way that you sell your products and services, show your audience the benefits of your content to thier needs.

How important is the integration of search, social and content.

Social is how customers hear about you, search is how they find you & content is how they will remember you.

How important is it to connect with consumers on a personal level?

If you fail to connect with consumers on a personal level, odds are… they won’t connect with your brand on a “purchasing level”.

How do we shape or convey our brand message via social media and content.

Your brand is not what you tell consumers it is – Its what consumers tell each other.

How important is LinkedIn to me as a business professional?

As a business professional you have two choices – LinkedIn or left out.
